2020 Fundraiser during the Covid-19 Crisis

In light of the struggles created by COVID-19 in 2020, we had to make the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 Milton Tour of Homes and instead, seek to support our community, sponsors, and supporters, in a different, more immediate manner. While a disappointment to many, we announced that we would return with the Milton Tour of Homes as soon as things return to “normal” and we could do so in a practically feasible and safe manner. But Southern Magnolia Charities remained steadfastly committed to our mission and our ongoing goal to contribute to the health and vitality of our community by raising funds to support local charities.

In examining the escalating needs that were currently upon our local charities, the Board of Southern Magnolia Charities chose to support Meals by Grace . As you may already know, Meals by Grace provides hungry children and their families with meals to end their food insecurity and promote self-sufficiency. They were currently experiencing an unprecedented demand and significant increased need for their food pantry services. Many of these individuals and families had never experienced food insecurity and had no other food resources.

So we asked the public to join us in supporting Meals by Grace by contributing $45 - the price they would normally spend on a single Milton Tour of Homes ticket (or any amount that they chose) via a GoFundMe fundraiser. Southern Magnolia Charities sent 100% of these donations to Meals by Grace by paying the portion that GoFundMe retained from our pockets so that they could continue to provide food to area families that were in desperate need due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Thanks to everyone who donated and supported this wonderful campaign,

we were able to give $8,500 directly to Meals by Grace! This included securing a $1,000 matching grant that we sought and were awarded from GoFundMe! While we were sad to postpone the Milton Tour of Homes, we wanted to remind everyone that TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE ! We appreciated everyone coming together to help raise immediate funding for a most worthy charity that serves our beloved community.
